This year, Liftolygy have received a share of National Lottery funding aimed at supporting grassroots sports clubs in Wales.
We are thrilled to have been awarded £5,767.00 by Sport Wales’ Be Active Wales Fund to help our Olympic Weightlifting Club grow even stronger!
The grant funding has allowed us to invest in a large set of weights equipment, especially for Club use, so our members can all now benefit from brand new Bars; Training Bars; Plates; Training Bumper Plates; Drop Pads and Squat Racks- and we can’t wait to get lifting..!
Our award also includes funding for training an extra coach.
By distributing money from The National Lottery, the Be Active Wales Fund offers clubs grants to get more people participating, or to help keep people taking part at clubs and activities into the future.
This funding will make a massive difference for our club to ensure we can expand and be more accessible to all- the female and training bars and training bumper plates especially can enable more women and younger and older members of our community to have a go, locally…
We are delighted to be one of Weightlifting Wales' Licensed Clubs receiving funding to deliver their 'Raise the Bar' programme.
Raise The Bar is a FREE 6-week programme for 11 to 16-year-olds to take part in Weightlifting and strength training at participating academies in Wales.
The Raise the Bar project is designed to provide the opportunity for participants to learn new skills, develop mobility, learn how to weight lift and safely perform a range of strength and conditioning exercises.
The focus is on enjoyment, working with others, making new friends, learning how to lift and building strength. Developing an understanding of the benefits that strength and a healthy lifestyle can have on long-term physical and mental health is so important for young and old alike.
As the National Governing Body for Weightlifting in Wales, Weightlifting Wales wants to make sure that young people have opportunities to learn from skilled coaches in safe and inclusive environments.
Liftolygy has been approved to deliver up to six of these introductory programmes per year, and successfully ran our first throughout summer 2024 for ten young, beginner lifters.
Please keep an eye on our website and social media for news on further sessions...
